Working Groups The Security Network plans to develop a number of Working Groups related to specific regional security issues. These Working Groups will serve as the primary forums for continuing dialog, analysis, information exchange and strategy development associated with each major element of regional security.
Each Working Group:
-
Will be chaired by two experienced leaders with a background in the designated application area - one from industry and one from government.
-
Will operate as a working group, holding regular meetings to exchange ideas and information, identify improvement strategies, and strategize potential beta tests for the most promising approaches.
-
Will develop strategies to pursue federal funding of promising beta tests that, if successful, could be applied at a national level. These strategies involve a collaboration of multiple government agencies and industry.
-
Will periodically sponsor special events, such as national-level speakers on security-related topics and (as appropriate) fundraising for specific purposes.
Participation in a Working Group will be restricted to individuals from Security Network sponsor organizations or those who have purchased an individual sponsorship.
As of December 2006, the Port Security Working Group has been quite active. That Working Group will collaborate closely with the Center for Maritime Systems & Security (CfMSS). Following is a listing of the Working Groups including Port Security and those that are planned. |
